Bhutan is historically known as Lhomen Menjong which translates to The Land of Medicinal Herbs. The hot stone bath is a traditional healing process dating back many centuries with roots in ancient Ayurveda.
Water that has been infused with Artemisia leaves, called Manchu in Bhutanese, is heated in a wooden chamber with hand-picked river stones that have been heated over fire. The chamber connects to the tub and allows for the transfer of heat and beneficial minerals from the stones. The temperature can be adjusted by simply adding or removing stones. You can soak for 1-2 hours while enjoying a nice warm beverage. A perfect way to relax after a long day of exploration.
The combination of beneficial herbs, minerals, and warm water have provided relief to many suffering from arthritis, hypertension, joint pain, stomach disorders, and a variety of skin ailments.
We offer various Hot Stone Bath experiences, from traditional rustic farmhouses to 5 star luxury hotels.
