Draped across the Himalayas, prayer flags are a cultural icon of Bhutan, Nepal, Tibet, and certain regions of north India. They can often be seen placed in precarious positions to optimize their effects on the people and the land. The different colors represent the five elements; east is wood, south is fire, west is iron, north is water, and all combined form the element of earth.

Positive mantras are written all over the flags so that their blessings can be carried by the wind to bring positivity to all those that the wind touches. Prayer flags are also used to block negativity and block the entrance to lower realms of consciousness in future cycles of life.
